CV- All the good stuff was so long ago

I've always done CVs in reverse chronological order. But now, it's so long since I've done anything impressive, I think my CV would be in the bin before they got to it.

How can I structure it so they see the good bits first?

I was recently advised by a recruitment consultant that a skills based CV could be useful. Basically, they suggested a short profile at the top, followed by skills sections giving examples and education/employment history on the second page.

Sounds like that might be a way to go for you - getting the right stuff in the right place?

yes, I have just been doing some research, and had come to this conclusion, Chutneypig.

I'm now struggling to work out what my skills are, and I'm wondering whether to employ the services of CV writing professional, as I'm floundering here.

It could be worth it - in this climate anything that gives you an edge has got to be worth it. Good luck!
