Tell me about your accountant

Im starting my own Chartered accountancy practice and I've love to hear what you like or dislike about your accountant. I'd love to know what you really want and expect your accountant to do for you, what they are great at doing, and maybe what they are not so good at.

I love my accountant she is a mum with girls a little bit older than mine and they are all at the same school. I had the accountant before the school. She answers my questions with a straightforward answer, just produces clear accounts to our specifics prompt on submission of our end of year. She has a tax guy who used to work for HMRC and really understands all that stuff.
She is not cheap, but she doesn't charge us for the 5 minute question that is not included in the main package.
Our girls all do climbing club together and we chat whilst we watch them do their last climbs on a Monday night, oh yes we are both enormous Take That fans with tickets for the tour.

Mine is a) recommended - which is how I found her, b) like Lizcat's she is a woman & a mum, c) she is approachable/knowledgable yet pitches herself to my level. She was also the most resonable. I had the feeling the two male accountants I spoke to where trying to dazzle me with jargon & charge me more. I guess what I am saying I trust her. She also sees me of an evening post DC bedtime which helps.

She also runs a local network, I admire that in her.
