I am studying to become a social worker and eventually I would like to practice as a family therapist. I know that a social work qualification will support this route but just wondered if anyone has any experience of

LA providing or employing family therapists?

how to become a freelance practitioner or work for private sector?

what specific study I need to do once social work qualified to become a practitioner?

how long would this take and do I need to have any social work practice experience prior to even considering it?

any advice would be gratefully received

I've been looking into this as well...and have found out the following info:

Family therapy involves four years of part time study, a foundation course, intermediate course, followed by 2 years masters. This qualifies you to practise as a Systemic Family Therapist, in accordance with the Association of Family Therapy.
