Volunteering at Oxfam

Hello
I'm wanting to return to work part time. I thought volunteering would be good for my confidence and get some up to date training which will then hopefully lead to a job. I am doing a retail and French degree with the Open Uni and would eventually (a few years down the line) like to become a retail area manager. I was an office manager previously (about 6 years ago!).

Does anybody have any experience of volunteering with Oxfam and if so how did you find it?
Many thanks

have volunteered at an Oxfam shop for about 18 months. joined as new to area and needed to find some friends. Love the job, but work "front of house" so lots of contact with customers. Visit the shop to get a placement don't rely on application forms as usually the shop manager is too busy to follow up on written CVs etc. Most Oxfam shops are desperate for young-minded staff with some experience. Good luck

I did a few months with Oxfam about ten years ago - obviously things change over time and will vary by locality, but they asked me to start the next day. I found them very organised, supportive and appreciative of all volunteers. Good luck tomorrow!
