print out P45 form

hi there

i just received my P45 form and it is a print out on normal paper rather than official paper from teh HMRC, has anyone else had this and is it OK?

i don't know, but you can always ask for a p46 if you are starting a new job- thus avoiding emergency tax. it is a form for people who don't have a p45 and is fairly straight forward.

im not planning on going back to work for a while, going to be a sahm for a while. Atm i just need it for claiming my tax back as ive overpaid this last year.

Most forms are print outs from computerised payroll packages now as HMRC dislike providing stationary now. As long as it has all the correct information on it then you should be okay.

Your info will have been sent electronically to HMRC but you should be provided with a P45 on correct stationery. It is unlikely the jobcentre or new employer will qaccept this. Get back in touch with your old employer there is no reason why the info cannot be hand written on to the newer A4 style form.

HMRC dont generally provide stationery anymore, as Lizcat said.

I do the payroll and for the last year or so I have only printed off P45s on normal paper, the same with P60s.
I know that a few years ago they would not allow you to do this, but it changed.

Don't worry if it is all correct, it is all computerised. Sorry Vickibee but employers do now have to accept the printed out forms.
