Doing a Primary PGCE next year - need some advice!

I have a place on a Primary PGCE course starting in September, and know it will be a year of very hard work! I just wondered whether it would be mad to book a week away with my family over Easter 2012? Could I manage that with good planning, or will I really need the time to catch up with work? Any advice very welcome!

I would wait til the summer holidays. You will be very very busy both at uni and at school and it would potentially ruin your holiday if you were stressing about assignments to finish, as well as having planning to organise. In the summer you will be able to relax properly and still have plenty of time either side of the trip to organise yourself for the next term.

I agree with MumToTheBoy. My PGCE year was madness. By Easter there will be a lot of pressure on you for assignments and increasing your independence in the classroom (planning used to take me FOREVER). I seem to recall my course finished end of June. You could find out when your course finishes and book a hol for then while still avoiding school hol times (probably the last time you'll get that luxury!). Good luck :)
