Royal Wedding Bank Holiday

Just been told im working on the day of Royal Wedding (sob). I have also just been told this will not be recognised as a Bank Holiday. Is this allowed?

afraid so girly, though it feels very late to be telling you that it won't be recognised as a bank holiday. there is no requirement on employers to recognise any 'bank holidays', just to provide the statutory minimum holiday (28 days if you're full time).

sorry you're disappointed. maybe you could have a fun day at work - dress up, bunting, street party food etc?

Aw well. I work in a shop in a retail park that is ususlly dead. Because M and S are not opening till 1 it will be even more dead that day. So we could dress up but I doubt anyone will see it. Thanks for the conformation though. I just hope the Wedding will be shown again on tv later!
