Holiday rant.

I am really frustrated atm re my holidays. I work full time (very full time) and get 20 days hols plus days off in lieu if I have to work on bank hols or weekends. My boss is a joy but our "big" boss doesn't seem to understand that people actually want to take their holidays when they can spend time with their families. I wasn't allowed to take enough time in the summer, wasn't allowed to take off time in half-term and now they are asking me just to take the time off in odd days here and there. I want to tell them to s-- off! My boss's wife is a teacher so he is tied to school holidays as well!

someone will come along and correct me I'm sure, but I didn't think bosses were allowed to do that?

Does not sound very fair to me!
Maybe they need to introduce some basic holiday rules that apply to everyone in the company so people at least know where they stand, e.g.
First come first served
Take it in turns for most popular weeks
Only X people off at same time
No more than 2 consecutive weeks
If they really will not allow certain times (like half term) or want you to take a certain portion of your hols as single days, they should add these to the rules, not just mention them when they feel like it.
