when and how did you tell work you were expecting? In my workplace it's all men and there are no mat pay info in the contract, heck even our HR person multi-tasks another role, met him once. Do you tell your boss or the HR guy who's a bit scary :p

You tell your boss. It's polite.

"You must tell your employer you want to take Statutory Maternity Leave at least 15 weeks before the beginning of the week your baby is due."

So would it be ok to give the letter to HR after telling your boss. I just feel so weird to give the letter to someone I never talk to. Should I email him asking him for a meeting?

I told my boss at about 8 weeks each time. Your boss should be able to liase with HR.

I agree. Let your boss deal with HR.

Do you need any reasonable adjustments if you do things like work with hazardous substances/heavy lifting? Because if you do I'd say sooner rather than later so a risk assessment can be done asap and also if you're not feeling well it's worth mentioning.

You don't need to put it in writing until 15 weeks before EDD as above and will need to give your MATB1 form as evidence but you can't get one until 23 weeks pg.

Going for a coffee with the boss to tell him sounds a lovely idea.

Congratulations btw!
