Request to work part time and PND

I am due to return to work when my first child is a year. I would like to work 3 days a week, rather than 5. I spoke to my employer about this before I went on mat leave and they seemed happy with it, but this was not through any formal channels. There has also been some senior changes since I have been on mat leave.

I am in the process of putting together my application for part time hours. I have PND, having been diagnosed about 6 weeks ago. I feel that this is another reason I want to go part time as having had a very tough first 6 months, I want to be there for my daughter as she grows up. Would you mention your PND or not?

I sympathise. I had PND and went back to work (3 days) after a year.

I personally wouldn't mention it. I would just focus on putting in a really good application. Have you seen the template letter on the Direct Gov website? Make the case for how your workload can be managed and how it won't impact on your colleagues etc. Your PND shouldn't really come into it as that's a seperate issue - eg. if you're asking for a change in working conditions under tha DDA.
