Does anybody have any advice about getting books published?

Did you write a proposal and send it to publishers yourself?

Or did you use an agent?

Do you have any advice for me?!

Thanks

If you use Twitter you will find authors who are usually happy to chat about things. These days I think anyone can publish on e-readers such as Kindle. So that may be a route for you initially. Try asking Melanie also see her blogpost self publishing on Kindle.

Post your question here. There are several writers (published and not) there who may help you. Perhaps some writing non-fiction? In fiction the process is generally write the book first and get it as polished as you can, then write a synopsis and cover letter and send off to agents who will guide you through further edits, promote you to editors and manage the legal/contractual stuff...
