Act!, bespoke database or any others?

My client is looking to set up some kind of database for HIS clients.

He is involved with regular maintenance of gardens.

Anyone seen a good product out there - or one of my other clients can write programmes and has offered to 'knock something up for him'!

Doesn't need to be too fancy. Just record keeping, note taking and forward actions linking into a diary system.

My programmer friend says it could be web based so that it can be updated by multiple gardeners on the move.

It really depends how much information he wants to capture - ACT is great for general customer information and also links into Sage Accounts so you can produce quotations, convert them to invoices etc, which saves double entry .

The other side is a bespoke system will enable them to capture what they need and will probably be more useful to be honest. The only think I would say is that it really needs to be defined upfront otherwise the costs can escaluate quickly especially when client say "can it juse do this..."

If you need further information let me know

MrA - do you mean to choose the database.com option when you go to salesforce.com??

No. Oh, I see they have rehashed their product range.

I mean one of the Sales Cloud offerings, probably the £3 per user per month one.
