Royal wedding bank holiday

Probably done to death but need some advice before I go to my employers.

Am currently on mat leave; normally work 3 days. An e-mail has gone round work saying that if you don't work on a Friday (normally) which I don't,you will be entitled to 1/5th of your working week back as TOIL for the Royal wedding. Fair enough and generous I think. But how does this work with me on mat leave? Not due back until July. If I can't have it that's okay, but I want to make sure that they don't 'forget' about it (they didn't take my maternity leave seriously: HoD asked when I was finishing the day before I finished and they couldn't stop going on about how far away I was finishing before my due date: first day of mat leave was at 39 weeks; even with 2 weeks leave that was still at 37 weeks!).

TIA.

It should be treated the same as any other bank holiday, so you get it added to the annual leave you've accrued while on maternity leave.

Just to muddy the waters for you - it depends on your contract. If your contract states x annual holiday plus 8 days b/h then the company don't have to give the wedding as extra since the B/H has been added this year and makes 9 days. However if your contract says x annual holidays plus bank holidays then you should be paid for it.
