Anyone work variable shifts for Sainsbo's?

Just been offered a job with them, three 4 hour shifts/week. Ideally the later the shift the better, so a 7pm - 11pm would be perfect, and I'm wondering how much of a chance do you get to make a preference? I completely understand that employees have to fit the needs of the store, however DH (having nagged encouraged me to get a job) is now hesitant about it hence I need some inside information please!

I used to work exactly those hours at Sainsbo's - shelf-stacking. They weren't flexible at all, but if you're on the tills you might have better luck.

I should think though, if you're prepared to do those hours on Fridays and Saturdays, you'll be very popular.

Thanks - spooky coincidence then and just what I need to know. Perhaps my tragic lack of social life is at last an advantage!

The worst thing about those four hour shifts is you don't get a tea break so it's tricky to get to know your colleagues.

Right...

TBH as I know nowt about working at the place, I should have asked if I could see the contract / staff handbook in advance. But I'll get that at the induction day apparently. Which seems a teeny bit late!

I always just went to the loo if I needed to. Even if you're on tills, I can't see how they could not let you - if you've got to go, you've got to go.
