Job enjoyment

Just out of idle curiosity...does anyone really enjoy their job or, like me, just do it in order to pay the mortgage? If you do it enjoy it, what sort of job is it? I am quite senior and really quite dislike my job. I don't mind the seniority/responsibility but I really don't like the work.

I really enjoy my job, before i had dd i was in quite a senior position for a large retailer, I left when i had dd. Now that she has gone back to school i have an admin job that is rubbish pay and i do about 3 peoples worth of work, but it is school hours, i don't work holidays my boss is great and really flexible if my dd is unwell or i want a different day off. Coming from a job where i was responsible for alot of people and turnover the fact that i can go home and not think about work is wonderful - however we are lucky that i could afford to earm alot less than i did.

Think lots of people are pretty ambivalent about their jobs and having a baby focuses your mind a lot more on whether you find your job that fulfilling, particularly if you have a choice to work or look after your child/ren.
Also believe that a lot of well paid jobs are fundamentally quite boring (hence why they pay well).

Generally, I enjoy my job. (I don't right at the moment as we have a big project that's going wrong - but on the other hand, my boss said to me 'just go home early and take a break from it' today).

I'm in a less senior / well-paid position than I might be, and I see that as a trade-off for doing more enjoyable work. My boss is paid twice what I'm paid, but my eyes really glaze over hearing about the stuff she's working on...
