I need alittle advice anyone!!??
I am going back to work next tues after being on maternity leave since the end of april,my baby was born stillborn in may and i had a miscarriage in september,so returning to work is going to be really hard, especially as i'm a nursery nurse in the baby department!
I have decided to go back to work part time tues-thurs initially and see how things go,i have been put on a part time contract that will be reviewed again in december,if i decide to continue on the part time contract that have told me theres no guarentee i can do tues-thurs,which i'm not too worried about right now,but what i really want to know is will my maternity rights be affected if i get pregnant again?will i be entitled to maternity leave again?and am i entitled to holiday on a p/t contract?I know it would be less than what i got on a f/t contract, but i still wondered if i'd get any?
I will ofcourse be bringing this up with my company before i sign anything,i just wanted to know my rights before hand and wondered if anyone knew who i could get in contact with,as my heads so mixed up and stuff right now!!,Many thanx.x.x.x

There is a website www.tiger.gov.uk which details employment rights for maternity leave or even www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk might have info too. I'm sure someone out there will be of more help but if not you could always call citizens advice too.

Good luck for going back to work and best of luck for ttc in future

Hello wannabump. First, I'm really sorry that you've been through so much and wish you the very best of luck in ttc and going back to work. Hope I can put your mind at rest a bit about your rights in the meantime....
Part-timers are entitled to the same length of maternity leave as everyone else, but your maternity pay will be calculated on your part-time pay unless you've increased back to full-time hours before you take the leave.
You are also entitled to holiday. To work out how much holiday you get in comparison with a full-timer, your employer should use what's called the "pro-rata" principle. This means you get a proportion of the full-time holiday allowance equivalent to the proportion of hours you work, e.g. if you do half the hours of a full-timer you get half the holiday.
There is specific legislation now protecting part-time workers and giving them equivalent rights.
Hope that helps a bit.

Just went looking on Inland revenue web site and found this page for you...hope it helps a little. Sorry it's is a bit long winded but think it covers everything you could ask about maternity.

I have a couple of friends one who had two still births and another who had a miscarriage. Both have two and three kids respectively now just wanted to tell you that. Hope it helps to hear that other people have had positive experiences in the end.
