"Employment" in Census 2011 for primary care givers

NOTE: I struggled to find the correct topic under which to post this thread (my first), if it would fit better somewhere else - please let me know.

I chose to give up work in 2009 to look after my, now two year old, son. For the first nine months this was in conjunction with my wife but since January 2010 it has been my "full time occupation".

I imagine that there must be a number of other parents on this site who are also non-gender-specific-primary-care-givers (or housewives if you are less sensitive to potential sexist assumptions ;-) ).

I have just received my Census 2011 form and I am trying to work out how I can indicate I am a NGSPCG and was interested in people's thoughts.

It seems to me that it is only in Q30 which has the option to tick "looking after home or family?" that one can indicate this as a role, am I missing something?

Many thanks,
Pete

Sorry but ROFL at 'non-gender-specific-primary-care-giver' GrinGrin

I don't have my form in front of me but 'looking after home or family' sounds right to me for SAHMs or SAHDs.

I've looked at mine now- seems pretty clear to me. Q26 is to find out whether you are in any paid work- you would presumably answer 'none of the above' to that. Q27-29 are finding out whether you are seeking paid work, then q30 is to indicate what you are doing instead of paid work.

Can't see the problem myself
