Working whilst on Mat Leave

I am currently on ML (am a teacher) and am due to go back in June. I mark exam papers every year around May for an exam board (nothing to do with school). Does anyone know the rules about whether or not I would be allowed to do this whilst off on ML?

If you are on mat pay you can't earn except KIT days. The last 3 months unpaid no one can do anything,( paraphrasing my replies froma similar thread a few weeks ago!)

Thought not. Boo. Just thought I could earn a bit off cash by doing some flexible work at home but never mine. Thanks.

You can't work more than 10 days while receiving SMP no, because you lose SMP. But whether you work for someone else during the unpaid portion of your maternity leave is entirely for your employer to decide - often they have rules about it, but it won't affect your pay because you aren't getting any at that point.

if your employer normally allow you to do this and won't be paying you any maternity pay at that point anyway, I can't imagine they'd object.
