Reasonable time off for Anti -natal appointments?

Hi
I am just wondering what is considered to be reasonable time off for anti natal appointments?

I am 12 weeks pregnant, following a serious miscarriage earlier in the year I have been offered weekly scans and fortnightly appointments with the consultant up until 20 weeks. Unfortunately all of these appointments fall on one of the days I work, a Wednesday afternoon. Am I going to have trouble justifying this to HR?

In your position as I assume you work part time, I would explsin the situation and ask if you could possibly change your pattern of workingdays. Yes they HAVE to give your reasonable time off, and should therefore accept these appointments, but if it means a half day every week, they mightthink it was a bit much. If you offer to work differently you are trying to be reasonable too IYKWIM

You are legally entitled to (paid, I think) time off for antenatal appointments that are considered necessary by your doctor or midwife. HR cannot object - and if they did would be being stupid as you could go to a tribunal. Google the Maternity Alliance for more info.

Yes you are entitled to scans, app etc (paid) and if it falls on your days working they have to put up with it and dont feel guilty about it, it is your health. You shouldnt have problems with it.
