Flippant question but curious

Sorry if this is too flippant for a serious board but what do all you other "work from homers" wear when you're working?

My dh thinks it's hilarious that I can only work, even when I'm at home, if I'm wearing "work" clothes. I don't mean a business suit but a smart dress, skirt and a smart top, business trousers and a smart sweater etc. I can do accounts and write expenses etc in casual clothes but if I'm working (writing a course, analysing client questionnaires, even talking to a client on the phone) I have to be dressed for it.

So am I mad?

I can't possibly comment.

We deal with people face to face in our home (run B&B) so have to look tidyish.

Ish was probably wrong, try to look tidy, very rarely wear jeans if serving breakfast.

When I first started working from home I was nursing a very small person so fashion was low on the list.
I'm a scruff at home.
If I'm going out to clients or new clients are coming round then its skirt heels necklace etc
but at the moment I am wearing my fave manky jumper that covers my hands (Raynauds) jeans and fluffy slippers
and have just finished a belting nasty letter to HMRC

Helenagrace · 28/02/2011 22:42

Always good to hear of someone despatching a nasty letter to HMRC - whatever they're wearing! Just in the middle of a long and stressy discussion with them regarding CT79 forms and why we as a management consutlancy wouldn't be importing or exporting anything so why isn't it obvious that our VAT number has been hacked???

I've had to resort to cc to rival bits of HMRC!!!!

I think you are nuts Grin. If you are working at home and not meeting clients then surely what you are wearing is irrelevant!

Tee2072 · 16/03/2011 20:20

I wear PJs. I usually start to work as soon as my husband and son leave the house and work for several hours before showering.

If I am going to a client site then it's business casual. If I'm doing a shoot (I do video for webcasts with live audiences and graphics) then it is slightly dressier but I am on a feet for hours then so I never wear something that isn't comfortable.

::tee stands up with hand in the air::

As God as my witness, I will never wear a business suit again!!

Whatever I feel like (and will pass muster for the nursery run Grin) but I am not client facing. Working in the evening I am usually in my pjs.
I also have a slanket for during the daytime when is cold - seems a bit off to put the heating on for just me!

MarionCole · 18/03/2011 20:50

I'm going to be working from home from the end of this month and am stressing because I only have one pair of jeans that fit me. What will I wear all day? Will have to lose some weight.
