Not been paid what I should of been....again

So I changed my hours at work back in January. Overall it means I am working more and therefore should of been paid more in January to reflect this.
Come jan pay day my pay hadn't changed. So I went to see the personnel manager, we did some rough calculations, and she said she would work out the actual figures and correct it for Februay. She also said she'd pay the extra January hours in my feb pay.
I was ok with that.

But having seen my Feb wages go into the bank over the weekend they are still at the old rate.

Given that my WTC has been amended down by £80 a month and will be lower again in feb and once they've dealt with the hours change too I fully expect it to go down again as soonas they have, I can't let this roll over to another month.

Plus I really wanted to see what my net salary was going to be in March so I would be able to budget for the following year once the WTC & CTC changes paperwork comes through for my change in hours and all teh changes in April.

I'm also thinking if they roll it over to March I could potentially be hit with extra NI which I shouldn't really have to pay if they had paid me correctly.

Can I insist them to re-calculate my Feb pay and issue an amended payslip with the extra for jan and feb on it?

bump. Anyone?
Am leaving for work in half an hour. Would like to know if I can ask/insist to have feb's payslip amended.
thx

Too late I see - you can ask but there's not a lot of pointing 'insisting' because there's not really a lot you can do about it if they say no, we'll make the adjustment in March.

Thanks for the reply. The personnel lady (who also does the payroll) is off this week as I found out when I came in. So I can't talk to her about it until next Monday anyhow!

Can I ask to be paid the money I am short even if they won't change the payslip? I'm really going to be struggling for petrol money to get into work because they've already reduced my WTC because I informed HMRC of the changes to my income straight away.

You can certainly ask - as your payslip doesn't reflect it it would essentially be an advance on next month's pay. Hopefully they would agree as they've mucked you about but again there's not a lot you can do about it if they refuse.

Whenever our payroll have made a mistake, our accounts department will issue a cheque straight away to make up the shortfall or fix the mistake. I'd ask your accounts department to do this.

Trouble is our 'accounts department' is the same person who does the payroll. And she's now on holiday till next week :(

So this still hasn't be sorted. I know things are manic at work and we've all had extra work dumped on us this last 3 weeks but am getting a bit frustrated now.
So I asked yesterday about it and was told it's on to do list and very sorry not got to it yet. I said it might as well wait till pay day now as long as it would definitely get paid then as I've been putting things on my credit card to pay for them and it needs paying now. Was assured it would be.

However I got home to find a letter from the WTC people saying they are not going to change my claim re working 30 hours a week and that they need proof of my last 4 payslips. Which of course I have but they don't show the additional money I should of been paid in jan and feb for my extra hours as I've not been given it yet!
They say the'll accept a letter from my employer confirming my increased hours on letterhead etc...

So took letter to work today. Again lots of apologise and would be next on the list to do it. Popped back on my way home but no hadn't been done and it was still on to do list (with several things now put on top of it).

Feeling very frustrated. My WTC went down because I informed them my salary would increase. But I've not had the wages to cover it yet and now they dont' believe me either so won't swap me from the part time to full time rate (which would add a much needed £10 a week to my WTC)

I don't have a lot of options here now do I? Apart from simply waiting for them to find time to do it :(

It doesn't really sound like they are trying very hard if they just say it's on a to do list does it? Could you have a word with the big boss, is he even aware there is an issue? It's a very basic job really, I can understand it not being in jan due tocut off etc and even if a real error feb's too but to give you no reassurance that march will be fixed is not reasonable.

gillybean2 · 24/03/2011 07:24

No it doesn't does it :(

We are all completely snowed under though and I'm not getting things done that I should of been and I know she and pretty much everyone else is in teh same position.
They made 2 partners redundant last month (with no notice to them or us staff), on top of the 3 staff that were made redundant. So we are all running around trying to deal with everything.
The personnel lady (who does the wages) is now my direct boss. Plus she is one of the partners in the firm.
There is someone above her I could go to but I don't want to cause un-necessary aggro at this point.
Though given I was still awake after 4am this morning, and am not actually feeling like I can function too well today I think I will have to say something. Both on the workload level and re my pay& the letter I now need if it's not sorted by payday on monday.

Well tbh if she's on holiday til Monday there is no chance it will be in your pay packet is there?

gillybean2 · 24/03/2011 10:24

No she's working from home today, not on holiday.
I guess I canask tomorrow when she's in the office and take it from there if still no joy.

Thanks for listening to my moaning. Just needed to vent a little I guess
