Returning to work and worried

Hi, sorry if this is a little long or confusing but need advice please??

I am due to return to go back to work in two weeks and I feel I will be demoted due to the following.

Before I left I was a supervisor of a team of 5 people dealing with all HR issues, prior to me leaving the company hired a team leader for a credit control team and had the idea of integrating the both teams together I was not informed of any changes to my job before I left but from the hints I have heard, I believe that I will now have no HR dealings of any team members (what are left of them) but I will be sorting out what work they are too do. Some peeps might think that it's good that I wont have the stresses of the HR dealings but I want to further my career and with out this I won't be able too due to not gaining any more experience. I was receiving a daily payment until the day I left for acting team leader and still signing all holiday forms and any other HR issues. Myain question is do I have any rights to my whole job including doing all HR or do I just have to accept what I am given?? The teams integrated before I left but I was still doing all HR issues.

I will have had only 21 weeks maternity leave by the date I go back.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give me xxx

Hmm, not sure. I thought they had to keep your exact job open for 6 months; the same level of pay and responsibility.

I am sure that they have to offer you your old job back, especially if you have only been away for 21 weeks! See the direct.gov advice...here
