Can anyone help me with a work experience placement in July for DS1 who will be 15 and wants to be a forensic scientist, his passion is chemistry.
He is doing well in his subjects with an A in Biology and a B in Physics so far.

The school website had nothing in the area he wants, in face nothing in labs at all,so if anyone works in or has a DH/DP/DW of dear anyone who works in a lab any sort of lab just so DS1 can get a feel of it please message me.

Needs to be in the Egham, Walton, Weybridge, Brentford, Windsor sort of area.

Very grateful for any help.

Not forensics, but the Veterinary Laboratories Agency in New Haw sometimes has work experience students. He might be a bit young at the moment though, I think they are usually year 12/13.

i think the national physics laboratory has work experience schemes. it's in the Teddington area. you can probably get more details if you google - we were told about it for dd1 but she decided she didn't want to be a scientist so never followed up.

Thank you MrsWobble, I will get him to give it a call.
He has not had any luck so far

as another suggestion - has he tried local hospitals? i imagine they are inundated with would-be medics but if your son is clear about forensics/pathology then they might be able to help with experience of eg blood testing labs etc and given that they do provide work experience for potential doctors they might be geared up for the process

He has MrsW and he has a contact name to call back as they were not there when he rang.
