Maternity Pay

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help, I work for a company where there are two parts of the business under the same leadership, CEO etc.

One part of the company gets enchanced maternity pay, I am not sure how much but think this is 3 months half pay in addition to SMP.

I work for a different part, and have been told I will not get any enhanced pay, only SMP.

This seems a little unfair to me, I wondered if this was allowed? We thought maybe it depends on if the companies are two separate legal entites.

Nothing stopping a company having more than one set of policies applying to different sections of the business. In fact it's common especially where companies have merged or there has been a takeover - sometimes separate policies operate for years in the same company.

As long as the policies themselves are legal and it's clear which applies to who, there's no problem.

Thanks, I thought as much, just a bit annoying!
