Anyone a Zumba Instructor?

I am very tempted to train to be a Zumba instructor, I'm not looking to earn mega bucks as I have a few other things I do workwise but think teaching a couple of Zumba classes a week could be fun and hopefully a little bit profitable.

Firstly, just wondering if anyone on MN is a freelance Zumba instructor and if you enjoy it, is it worth doing after you pay for the rental of a hall, insurance etc, etc?

Secondly, there are eighty odd Zumba classes within a five mile radius of the town I live in every week, can there really be that many people who want to go to Zumba? Hmm I know it's popular, I love it myself but would there really be the numbers for another couple of classes in a town that already seems oversubscribed?

Any info, help, advice appreciated. Thanks! Smile

My cousin does this and is phenomenally successful at it, in fact she has scaled back on her normal (highly trained, professional) job because she's making so much money by being a zumba instructor. She' been doing in for 2-3 years I think.

I am a great fan of Zumba but am an attendee not a teacher. There has been a real explosion of teachers in my area over the last few months. My friend has just trained and started her classes last week. What worries me is that as it is not a franchise the territory is not protected so you might start off well but then another new teacher might come in and start up in competition with you. Like you I would worry that the area would become saturated with classes and that venues might already be taken. Just something to think about.
