Email subject for speculative CV send-out?

With a view to getting back into the swim of work (I've been freelancing for nearly 8 years, and feel like I've come to the end of the road) I am sending my CV out to a few contacts with an email along the lines of "I'm looking to move back into an employed role in the medium term and wondered if you have time to meet up and offer any advice". I'm happy with the email I've drafted, but don't know what to CALL it - i.e. it's not a job application, but what is it??? Any ideas?

I'm in exactly the same boat, so any advice on this will be welcomed. I've freelanced for about 6 years, and now want a bit more stability and less working away from home.

Employment enquiry? Speculative job application? Speculative enquiry? Speculative job enquiry?

Good luck Smile

"Request for an appointment"?

GrendelsMum · 30/01/2011 15:38

"Request for advice?"

Thanks all! Think I'm going to go for "Speculative CV / advice". What do you think?

I would say, 'advice needed: your help much appreciated'.

In the email I would offer to buy them a coffee (or at least make it clear you're paying) and then mention somewhere in the text you've attached your latest CV, the idea being that they can offer any thoughts on this, without putting them under immediate pressure to offer you a job.

If they haven't got time to meet, they may then send back some thoughts by email anyway eg 'I know we don't have anything here but I heard Mrs X was recruiting'

Good luck.
