Work and life and redundancy

Anyone got a successful story or advice on how to make the best of work/life for family after losing main family income?

Working part-time on a small income, and part-time parenting, which is fine, but now dh who brings in main income is made redundant in his late 40s. Not much work in his field or mine. Need to start working out what to do next to make the best of everything. If he doesn't find work soon, seems like we need to re-evaluate every aspect of life - where we live, what work to do, how to earn enough, what we can afford. Am trying not to get in a panic.

Trying to find positive way through to a better place. Any words of wisdom?

First of all don't panic. I've been made redundant twice and once you get past the initial Shock bit, it's actually okay. You both need to think sensibly about what else you could do, and ask everyone you know if they know of any jobs. There are jobs out there, but you have to be flexible and ready to start a bit lower and work up over a couple of years.

Good luck :)

Wise words from whomoved.

I've been made redundant, too, twice.

I'm sorry you are going through this.

I've had my job made redundant twice too.

Have you considered recruitment agencies?
