I am thinking of applying to do mine in September after 8 years out Shock Has anyone successfully done one? How did you find it? How did you make it work?

I haven't, but one of my colleagues did. I think she quite enjoyed it.Could you contact your local/nearest University that does nursing courses? Even if they don't do the return to practice they will know where does.

hth, it's a bump for you if nothing else. :)

Hi Kitty I did the return to practice course 2 yrs ago.
It's failry easy course and it was paid for by trust,in fact everyone on course was paid for.
Took about 6 months from start to getting pin back.
I would advise getting in touch with local hospital where you'd eventually like a job and ask. You will need a placement to do the course and the uni I did it you had to find placement as hca first.
My mistake was getting placement in pct not acute trust which makes it difficult getting back into acute work.
I now have job in elderly rehab ward in community hospital which is lovely. I will probably go for a community job next.

Hi, I have looked into this but it's not funded in my area and there's been a vacancy freeze for the last five years, so doesn't seem much point! Identify where you want to work and what unis near you offer it, then I'd be on the phone to the person you want to work for.

Just out of interest, I would LOVE to be a practice nurse and never thought of doing placement in the PCT rather than the acute trust (I still work for acute trust so a bit brainwashed I think!), anyone think that'd be worth a look into?
