Just wondered if anyone has any guidance on how much work is involved. I have found a course where attendance can be squished into 2 days a week. but how much study does it generally need? in term time? and out of term? I have primary school-age kids - in term-time I have (roughly) 3 full days free (2 of which would be taken up in classes) plus 2 days 9-3.30. In the holidays I have, approx 2.5 days free. Is it do-able?

thanks Mrs P. I have an LLM from a notoriously intensive university - and got a distinction working approx 4.5 days a week - solidly in both term and vacation time. plus a bit more at exam time. I treated it completely like a job - was ridiculously well organised. I seem to remember spending a day at the beginning of the year virtually mapping out my entire work schedule for the whole year. maybe a bit ott! but I was determined not to work at weekends.

it sounds like it'll be a close call. I really don;t want to do it p-t though. I'm old and am applying for tcs to start in 2013. Out of interest...just supposing I got a tc...and just supposing it became apparent I'd underestimated the gdl...what do you think my chances would be of switching to pt and defering the tc?

A good friend of mine has just finished one but apparently there is a tremendous glut of these qualifications and it is VERY hard to get the necessary posts afterwards. Just something to consider.

I agree with Acinonyx and apologies if this sounds negative, but I know people who spent a lot of time and money and didn't get a training contract afterwards.

LOTP - I'm very reluctant, in the current climate, to start it without a TC.
