Non Drivers and career opportunities??

i am currently working for a solicitors firm as a legal secretary and wanted to progress so started my degree, it appears (although they have not told me directly and to the point) that i wont progress because i dont drive. i stopped doing my degree when i became pregnant and this has put me off continuing in the legal profession,

i am now undertaking a degree in childhood and youth studies, partly out of interest, and partly for a career change, my son has special educational needs and i am hoping to go down the route of working with children with special needs - not sure exactly what though.

i have no problem using public transport and even willing to work extra hours unpaid to make up for some of the time "wasted" travelling i may need to do.

is there any mumsnetters who work in similar settings that dont drive? is it possible or will i need to learn to drive? have had lessons in the past but gave them up, i can't really afford a car and am quite happy using public transport

Hi, county It's been expressed very negatively but I do think you could struggle without a driving licence. Would you consider learning?

I know that my career rapidly progressed after I learned to drive, as it's something that really expands your options.

I think for many jobs, where travel is required in terms of the job (rather than getting to the job) public transport is an additional drain on resources (due to the extra time it takes etc).
