Starting up a Business distance learning courses - anyone?

I'm thinking of starting up a business but don't have much business knowledge, being a public sector person. So I'm looking for an online or distance learning course to take me through the steps of setting up my own business.

Has anyone done such a course? Who with? Was it good?

And does anyone know whether there is any funding available?

Hi fisil - your best bet would be Business Link. Different regions have different funding.

The link below takes you to the B/Link website where you can read about Start Up Advice or telephone them. Some Business Links aren't too great and some and absolutely wonderful, but well worth contacting them.

Thank you Redtartanlass. It is an excellent site. I think I will do one of the LeanDirect courses they suggest.

fisil - glad you found it helpful it is also worth phoning them as I believe most have a 'Business Start-Up Advisor' who will be able to give you free advice. Also it helps to get on their mailing list as they run some reasonably priced courses, which are also a good opportunity for networking.

Good Luck
