I currently work 4 days a week, as does DP (he does condensed hours, so long days 4 days a week, and one day off) and DS (3) is in nursery for 3 days.
It's a great situation that suits us all. However, I'm going to be made redundant at the end of March and finding part time work is really, really hard.
I've just seen a job advertised that's 5.30pm-10.30pm Mon-Fri.In some ways it would be great as we'd have no childcare costs at all, I'd get to spend more time with DS but I'd still get a bit of time to myself now that he's got his free 15 hours a week.
On the other hand, I'd see much less of DP, DP would have to do bedtime every night (and give up his hobby which he currently does 2 nights a week), he'd have to change his hours back to normal full time so he'd miss his day with DS. I think I'd be knackered all the time too - working to 10.30, then getting up at 6.30am to an active 3 year old.
What's the reality like - does anyone do anything similar?
