can anyone tell me if there are any rights for parents who have children in full time education to be able to take their annual leave during school holidays

Don't think there are, sorry.

If you can't get a/l during that period, you are entitled to ask for additional parental leave if child is under 5 I think. This would be unpaid and employers would still need to agree when it was taken.

No, not as far as I'm aware. Obviously if you book it months in advance then the employer would need to have pretty good reasons for rejecting the request. At our company it's generally accepted among our team that those with children at school or partners who are teachers get first dibs at the school holidays.

Have you had a request refused or was it just a general question?

Thank you thought that might be the case
