Can I phone after interview?

I had an interview last week. I have been told they will let me know on Monday. This is an entirely new role which is very challenging and interesting.

I received a call last night from my old employer to advise that a member of staff has resigned and that he'd like to meet me on Monday to discuss. I am going to go and see what they say (currently on JSA so need something). I am pretty confident that there is a role there for me but just need to see what the hours/rate of pay etc is.

I am hoping to get a call re job 1 (my preferred role) first thing Monday but would it be rude of me to call them say late morning on Monday if they've not called me?

If something is offered from my old employer would I just be best to say I need 24 hours to sleep on it and hope that I hear about job 1?

Just not sure what to do.

oooooh tricky one, I'd go with saying you need a day to think it over if you haven't heard from job 1.

Thanks. I think you are right! The job with my old employer is at a different office so it will be a house move too but we are in rented until February so it will work too.
