Anyone in receipt of Childcare Element of Tax Credits

... and has anyone claimed recently?

I am hoping to start work soon and will need to apply for assistance with childcare costs.

My concern is that it is going to take a long time for the reassessment to be done and I'll be waiting for ages for any funds to pay childcare.

How long did you wait for the moneys? How did you organise this with your childcare provider, because I will know whether I have the job on a Friday and will need childcare from the following Friday. I'm assuming the tax credits office will not be that quick organising reassessment and payment ... but then I'm worried I wont be able to take the job as I wont be able to pay the childcare.

Any advice or anyone willing to relay their experiences.

Thanks.

I found it really quick! I assume you are getting tax credits anyway so its just a change. You will need your childcarer/nursery's ofsted number so you need to know where little one is going and how much it is before you apply. They will only take childcare details 1 week before it starts anyway and you should get the money that following week. I get mine paid weekly as i find it easier to pay my nursery out of my salary and live on my tax credits iyswim.

hope that helps!

IIRC mine didn't take that long to go through the system. I was already on tax credits so they just added it all up.

Thanks, that's great to hear. We already claim tax credits, yes, so hopefully if we do need to the childcare help, it'll be done quickly. Thanks x

For those in receipt, what percentage do you get back of your childcare fees?
