Help! Changing return date with no notice?

I am so upset about this- I am on maternity leave and am due to return on Monday. All fine.

Had childcare sorted out (P!) who has pulled out and refuses to care for baby.

I cannot find other childcare with less than a week to go.

My 52 weeks isn't up until Jan 2011, but I wanted to return now as I am down to zero income and I have annual leave to take so it wouldn't be full time yet anyway.

I obviously can't give 8 weeks notice of a change to my return date but I can't get childcare in place- what do I do? Any advice on where I stand?

First thing you should do is speak to your employer and tell them the situation and say you need an extra 2 weeks to get child care sorted - they may be understanding.
