Environmental Health and Home Business

Hello All,

Not sure if this is the best place for this post but couldn't find anywhere suitable.

I am considering starting a catering business from home and know I would need Environmental Health in to give my kitchen their seal of approval.

We have a dog and I wondered if anyone knew if it was out of the question for them to approve me, or if it would just mean the dog being kept out of the food preparation area.

Any advice you could give would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, i will be watching this too. I am thinking of phoning enviromental Health to come and check my kitchen so i can start selling cakes (in hope to lead to outside catering).

As far as i know its ok to have pets in the house as long as they don't enter food prep areas (kitchen/store rooms). Our dog does not have access to the kitchen (only sitting room and back garden) and i have a stair gate to keep out the children and the dog.

I have worked in catering since i left college (trained as a chef) and i have up to date food hygiene certificate, i'm hoping (because i keep my kitchen up to catering stardards) that i will get the go ahead to use my kitchen.

Good luck, i'm sure it will be fine. xx
