Armed Forces Recruitment

Hi. Just wondering if there is anyone involved in the above who could give me any broad advice/information about what the position is likely to be after the cuts announced today?

DS1, 17, has made an initial application for the RAF and is waiting to hear about an appointment at the AFCO. He has been told that the 'window' for his chosen trade is October to December. I have just heard on the news that there are likely to be around 17,000 job losses across the forces - so, realistically, has he any chance at all of getting in??

Don't know anything about Forces recruitment however there is a Forces Sweethearts board on Mumsnet where lots of ladies whose other halves are in the Forces hang out and I imagine they will all be very knowledgeable and helpful if you try there.

Even at 17,000 job losses the turn over in the military is high so they always need new recruits.
