maternity leave

I have 4 wks annnual leave left which runs from april to april. I am due to have my baby on 31st Jan (elective c section)I need to formally book my leave on monday and was going to start on 1.1.11 take my annual leave leading onto mat leave but as it wont be april can istill do this,sorry if i seem a bit of a dim wit but it really is confusing me and my boss has been a bit of a twat and i cant face asking him as he wil be as awkward as posssible. I ahve heard there are some pretty knowledgable mums netters on the subject. Can you help pleas?

Can't see a problem. If you weren't going on maternity they would let you take all your holiday before April wouldn't they.

Oh yeah. Durr.Never thought about it that way.What will happen to the bank holidays over xmas think its 3 do i just lose them?I really am a pea brain when it comes to this

You are entitled to 8 days paid bank holiday during a one year maternity leave.

Whether you are entitled to take bank holidays that fall during maternity leave after you return may well depend on the wording in your contract and how much holiday you get overall.
