Overtime Question

Is there anything that says overtime must become permanent if worked for a certain time? Really am asking for a friend. Not a cover!!

Can you explain why your friend needs to know, as the answer might differ.

For example, is her employer now saying they don't need her to do any overtime and she wants to know whether she can insist? Or is she wondering whether overtime payments should be counted for calculating redundancy/maternity pay, or similar?

If you could explain a little more that might help.
