Hi

Can anyone help - as I can't get through to the tax office!!
I have been offered a job but they say I am responsible for my own tax and NI. I only expect to work 6-8 hrs a week. What do I have do - is it more trouble than it's worth. Any tips or info would be great as I have always PAYE, but haven't worked for 6 yrs.

Thanks

On what basis is it self-employment? I mean what reason have they given you for not employing you? It's not quite as simple as just saying you are responsible for your own tax and NI therefore you are self-employed, it's all about the nature of the relationship between you and your employer.
