Bit boring really, Blush
I have paid x amount every month for 17 years to my union principally for indemnity insurance. I am thinking about changing my union because have generally not been impressed with their lack of action with regard to proposed health care reform, both now and in the past. Does anyone belong to a 'good' union, are you active in the union, any recommendation??

BTW I am a nurse and belong to RCN

Unison?

I was thinking Unison, but have no experience with them. Just feel I am wasting my money atm

They were rubbish for me (Unison)- Union rep had no knowledge of maternity rights etc.
My Dad, however, was a Unison union rep and was fantastic and that's why I joined!

And I'm still bitter about AFC stuffing up my career.

Oh dear Morag!

RCN were pretty rubbish when I needed them too!

Maybe its luck of the draw with reps??

If your rep is not helpful you could go and talk to one of the full time officers at the local branch.

I work in Health Care and am in Unite, Im also a rep for Unite. I feel that Unite are more prepared to campaign on issues that other unions may not. As you say it also depends on what your local rep is like.
You could always try becoming a rep yourself?
Its very interesting!
