Am I entitled to maternity pay

Hi,
I started a new job at the begining of July this year (still on probation)and have just found out that I am 7 weeks pregant. Does anyone know if I am entitled to maternity pay

I think you are entitled to SMP if you have been in a job 6 months before you reach 25 weeks; ie you would have started the job, then got pregnant a month later.

I think from your dates you might just be lucky; ie you started 1st July, then got pregnant 1st August.

You don't officialy have to tell your employer until 25 weeks, but they might guess beforehand. Most people tell their employers after the first trimester.

Even if you're not entitled to SMP, you will still be entitled to SMA. Check the direct.gov website for details and how to calculate it.
