Moving house while pregnant

Hello all, I was looking for a bit of advice on my situation. I'm only 5 weeks at the mo but we're looking at moving from Leeds back to Newcastle to be near family near my due date. I don't really want to be moving after the birth, I just think it'd be so much easier moving without a baby in tow!

Obviously I want to keep working as long as possible but I was thinking of moving back up there when I go on maternity leave. Does anyone know how this would affect my maternity pay as obviously I wouldn't be going back to the same job? I don't get any maternity pay from my job, just SMP.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

It wouldn't affect anything. You get SMP regardless of whether you leave your job or not, and in any case, you don't need to leave your job just because you are moving if you are on maternity leave anyway. You get all your benefit including your holiday entitlement all through your maternity leave so unless and until you want to start a new job, you should stay employed until the end of your year maternity leave.
