To B&B or not to B&B that is the question!

Hi all,
We're thinking about our next house move as a family and we're considering looking for somewhere that has very small B&B or holiday let possiblities....but we don't actually know anything about the running of such things.
Has anyone out there done this? Is it all consuming? Do you make any money? What do we need to know tax/permit-wise? Any practical advice about the day to day would be great :).

For tax info/advice - there are a couple of threads running on holiday lets on www.moneysavingexpert.com. According to on there - there are changes to the tax system that makes it less appealing to have holiday homes as a let - so there are a lot of properties out there for sale.

I guess it depends on how much you like cooking, cleaning and looking after guests, how many nights you are offering the service and all year round or not?

Will your mortgage be dependent on guests - or if you get pissed off with it can you still manage. As with everything - its a pia to be reliant on income that you hate working for!

I've been thinking about buying a house to let out as a holiday let - but not sure whether to take the plunge or not!
