Oh my word! Betterware!

Ok, maybe I'm very naive, but just signed up to be a Betterware distributor. Got given a 'territory' that I thought was an ok-ish area. How wrong I was! Lots of 'beware of the vile, scary, eat-up-your-children dog' signs; lots of scary barking as soon as you opened the garden gate; millions of 'don't give us junk mail signs'; manky broken cars on the front lawns etc.

Now I'm not afraid of hard work, but I had envisaged (twit that I am) walking along nice streets with my children (who were very keen), delivering catalogues together as a nice way of getting out of the house for an hour every day; and earning some money in the process. But I am not going to take them to these streets and ask them to put catalogues in these houses...but I have no time to do it on my own, except late at night...which would be even more madness I feel!

So I'm going to have to ring the co-ordinator and say I can't do it Blush. And we all worked so hard this morning sorting out the catalogues, bagging them etc. - 120 of the damn things! Angry

I am now very fed up and really running out of ideas of how to earn some extra money (HEing mum of four - already doing some PT SE work, but have reached saturation point and am doing as much as I feasibly can) Sad

Help!!!!! What can I do! We need more money!

Also have tried and failed to get work as a care worker (am a trained but unregistered nurse) evenings and weekends because DH gets home so late no one wants me! Sad

I am doing Avon at the moment I did my first order last friday and got 278.00 in orders this was just among family and friends and a couple of my nearest neighbours.

Word of mouth spread quickly and I had people stopping me for a book.

There is also a massive thread on MSE about selling avon which was helpful.

I think I have earned about 70.00 which is quite good for a firts order.

Sorry to hear about your rubbish morning :-(

Have you thought about being an Usborne Books Organiser? You get a minimum of 24% commission from day one, and the money is in your hand as soon as you sell the books. It's great to work around children because it's your business so you can do as much or as little as you like, when you like.

If you'd like more info drop me an email to [email protected] or have a look at my website.

How about selling chocolate for www.chocolate-world.co.uk. With Christmas coming up it is a brilliant time to sell and is very sociable. PM me with your phone number and I'll give you a call.
Best wishes
Kay

Hi Notanother - I do Phoenix Trading. Selling cards, giftwrap and stationery. It works a bit like Avon and there are no territories! My website is www.phoenix-trading.eu/web/sharonbrightman/Store.php. If you would like an information pack you can fill in the page on there or contact me via Facebook. Also a good time to join Phoenix!

Hahahahahahaha - thanks for the ideas, ladies, but I'm glad I gave you all a good chance to advertise yourselves Wink

The chocolate thingy looks good, but I'm not sure I'd maintain my weightloss if I did that Grin!

Well, I USED to do Phoenix, so I can recommend it without "advertising" as such. It was fab, made loads of money. I did it for five years; only gave up because once the dcs started school I went back to work.

You would be so busy selling chocolate you wouldn't have time to eat them!!!! Besides which Chocolate Strawberries count towards your 5 a day.....don't they?!!!!!!

HughRinal · 25/09/2010 23:02

Sorry you had a crap time.
Another vote for Phoenix, I don't do it but I do buy them, I love their stuff, it's really popular...our lady leaves a basket at toddlers and we look after it for her. I used to work in a leisure centre and a lady had a phoenix stall there once a month...
good luck
