Redundancy payment

Can anyone advise me please? I'm being made redundant from the NHS on October 2nd. I queried when I could expect to receive my redundancy payment and have been told that it 'may' be the end of October if the paperwork is done in time, if not it will be the end of the following month ie the end of November. A delay of 2 months between leaving and receiving my redundancy payment seems really unfair to me, but they are citing payroll cut off issues. Is this right, or could I insist on being paid sooner?

Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

When I was made redundant I received the redundancy pay at my next payroll day. However, I knew it was going to happen as they had a 30 day consultation period and it ended at the beginning of the month - so 4 weeks until I was paid.

How do I get the redundancy number from nhs work? Do I contact pay roll or will my manager give me forms. They just said no job for me by email.

@follyfoot the whole point of redundancy is to ease money worries whilst you fine a new job.

For the NHS it will be a routine payment via payroll. There is no excuse for not paying it on timeI would be firmly writing to payroll and cc to HR Director pointing out that you are entitled to this payment. At the same time ask for an advance now to cover you until they make the payment in Nov.

In the letter add a sentence that if they fail to pay in Nov you will commence legal action.
