Returning to work before sick note expires

I had gynecological laparaoscopy 8 days ago and not due to return to work until next tuesday but I want to return this Thursday is this silly on my part. I dont have to drive as I have arrange a lift. Is this ok to do as work are ok with me either returning this week or when my sick not runs out. Should I check with my doctor before returning.

Yes. If the doctor has said you are not fit for work until next Tuesday you should go back and see him/her and get signed off to return earlier. Work shouldn't let you back until either your sick note has run out or your doctor has certified that you are now fit.

Ok flowery I will go to the doctor and ask him, the hospital gave me the sick note but the nurse just said to me do you want one week or two, I feel ok apart from the dull ache in my tum
