Blog v Website?

I have finally and reluctantly come to the conclusion that I need an internet presence.

I dont need to sell stuff; I am a Fine Artist, and a lot of my work is conceptual, very non-commercial,non- traditional.

So I just really need a space to put work on,to explore different ideas --almost an on-line studio space.

Unfortunatly I am also very poor at IT and computor skills.( very poor financially too!) So does anyone have tips re which way to go? I've looked at a lot of blogs, and wonder if that might suit my needs better. So is there a place I could go which is very, very easy to use, which can take a lot of visual content, and I can change very easily and often?

(I have asked advice within my artist network circle, but everyone seems to be so much more advanced technically than I am,I really am very ,very dim with computors)

Mr Site, the basic package is easy peasy, £20 and I've done it. Look at Mr Site as they have tutorials that are easy to follow. You can also look at examples of other sites people have done.

A website would be so much better for you. People could view your work which I supposed is the main point of what you do!

I don't think many people really have time to read blogs and they would be much more interested to see what you do than read about it, if you see what I mean.

You defo can do it.

If I were you, I'd go for a blog. They are very easy to update. In fact, the easiest one I have come across is called posterous as you just email or even text to post on it.

What image editing software do you use? If it is picassa (which is free, btw), that works very well with blogger (you just click on a little button in picassa and it uploads to your blog with room to add comments)

If you do want a website, you can get a free website and domain name if you google GBBO.

Just ask if you want any more help :)

I have just set up a free website for my sister in law's dance school. I used moonfruit.com - its like Powerpoint for the brave.

Blog vs website depends on how you like to work. Do you like to do a little update every now and then, or collect it all together and do it all in one go.

I think simple website with multiple galleries of your work images on + a facebook group which you update with news and link to your website would work best.

Thankyou all for advice. I will do more research.

Am also realising I probably should take some classes in computor use, then I wouldnt feel so intimidated. Thanks again
