Redundancy during maternity leave

I was called when my DD was 2 weeks old to be told that my post was being considered for redundancy. We are now in a consultation period.
I work for a largish company and they are looking to make approximately 40 people redundant. Within my team there will be 4 redundancies.
I work part-time (0.6) and a colleague does exactly the same job full time (although I have considerably more experience than her and am on a higher salary scale).
We have been told that there will be one post available and that we will both need to apply for it - ie fight it out!
As far as I am aware I think I have the right to be offered the post - can anyone confirm this? My query is over being able to continue working part-time. Can I insist on this?
I have a meeting with HR and my line manager this week and so would like to be clear on my rights before hand - my union rep has not been much help so far.

AFAIK if you want to insist on staying part time they could deem this position unsuitable for you as they could argue its a full time or needs full time cover.

Depending on the business needs and what the job is then a job share may or may not work. How are you part time. 3 days or reduced hours over 5?

You have the right to be offered suitable posts - depends on what this post needs to see if its suitable.

Thanks for your reply.
I work 3 days a week so a job share could be possible.
I'll see what comes from my meeting and will probably post again.
